Store – Proyecto Coyote

I’m an Interdisciplinary Artist from both sides of the border between Tijuana and San Diego. Through my residency at the Textile Arts Center I am researching cross border trade and systemic relations. As a Chicana who grew up fronteriza observing bilateral trade I am abundantly aware of the labor, time and exploitation lived by my community active during the support of these trade agreements.

As a second language learner and bilingual educator I have experienced and seen first hand the expansion of the bilingual mind and value the privilege to teach language to Spanish speakers, Spanish learners and provide respective resources to my community. I have also observed the misdoings of the United States Education System to properly see and support children, learners, and families in equitable ways.

Support me as I research these actualities further, make connections between California and New York migrant communities, study new mediums and incorporate science and technology in the making of interactive installation works.
